Audition information

Initial Auditions: Monday, February 18th and Tuesday, February 19th 6:00-8:00pm by appointment

Anyone interested in auditioning only needs to attend on night of initial auditions - either Monday or Tuesday. Students should sign up for a specific audition appointment slot on the bulletin board outside of the Chorus room in the music department hallway. Students will only need to attend initial auditions in 10-minute time slots - if you do not have an appointment scheduled, please come to auditions at 6pm and you will be seen as time allows!

For initial auditions, please prepare one of the provided Shakespearean monologues OR another Shakespearean monologue of your choosing. Please do NOT perform a contemporary monologue. You may also bring a resume/headshot or a list of theatrical experience.

Callbacks: Wednesday, February 20th, 6:00-9:00pm

Further acting auditions will be completed at callback auditions. Not everyone will be invited to callbacks - however, you are still cast in the show even if you are not invited to callbacks. Callbacks will help determine leading characters, but supporting characters and ensemble roles may be decided from initial auditions.

A callback list will be posted after each night of auditions, along with material that will be performed at the callbacks on Wednesday. Each callback list and set of materials will be posted on the Performing Arts Department website (www.bowperformingarts.com/romeo-and-juliet) by 9pm on your audition date, and on the bulletin board in the music department hallway by the following morning. My hope in giving you this material in advance is that you will be able to read-through and familiarize yourself with this material before your callback, so that you are not reading Shakespearean text cold in your audition. We will do some additional Shakespearean exercises during callbacks, but no one will be asked to do any cold-readings from the text.

Rehearsals: Romeo & Juliet will rehearse Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings 6:00-9:00pm beginning on Sunday, March 10th. Not everyone will be called to every rehearsal. Please plan to make a note of any and all rehearsal conflicts at the time of auditions.

Tech Week & Show Dates: Shows will be held on Friday, May 3rd at 7pm, Saturday, May 4th at 7pm, and Sunday, May 5th at 2pm. Tech week rehearsals will be held Sunday, April 28th through Thursday, May 2nd 5:00-9:00pm. All performances and tech week rehearsals are mandatory.
